Concentric Clamping
Concentric Clamping Positioning of a workpiece for a machining process has decisive influence on the end quality. Besides positioning against exterior and interior fixed stops, concentric clamping is becoming more and more important, especially in the case of mold parts. With smaller manufacturing tolerances, more precise positioning of castings, forgings and sintered parts is essential.
Carr Lane Roemheld has invested time and effort into the concept of concentric positioning and clamping, offering new renovations in workholding.
By using the "sliding-dog principle," maximum damping and compact construction is obtained, together with high repetitive accuracy.
This allows the blanks to be manufactured with less machining allowance, which results in reductions in the weight and cost of the blank, machining time and the tool cost.
Concentric Clamping Elements
New SWIFTSURE® concentric clamping elements shorten loading and clamping times for workpieces with cast or machined bores, reliefs or break-outs. The combination of hydraulically operated two- and three-way elements reduce tedious manual positioning by clamping with the turn of a valve.
Easily integrated into fixtures, concentric clamping elements avoid overstressed clamping and provide high repeatability. The elements can be ordered in diameters ten inches, with larger sizes available on request. Varied mounting and connecting options extend the versatility of these labor-saving clamps. Self-Centering Vises
Self-centering vises have V jaws which self-center with high repeatability to hold cylindrical workpieces and bars. Jaw movement is adjustable to accommodate a range of workpiece diameters. Several sizes are available to hold workpieces from 1/4" to 23.62". Clamping forces range from 2250 to 19,125 lbs. View self-centering vises in online catalog.
Collet Vises
Collet vises are excellent for accurate, versatile fixturing of round, square and hex-shaped workpieces. With fluid pressure, twin cylinders push to draw each collet securely downward to locate the workpiece against an adjustable bottom rest. The vises accept custom or standard 5C collets, including step, expanding and emergency collets. The bottom plugs holding the workpiece height-adjustment screws can be removed for through feeding of bar stock. Several models are available for horizontally or vertical mounting. The triple collet versions allow close parts placement for increased quantities. Standard or precision collets deliver collet squareness accuracy to within ±.001". Radial clamping force for these vises is rated at 19,100 lbs. per collet. View collet vises in online catalog.
